Frequently asked questions

Common Questions we hear.

Q1
Does Medicare cover custom wheelchairs?
Yes. Medicare Part B covers custom power wheelchairs and complex rehab equipment when medically necessary, documented by your physician, and supplied by an accredited provider. Feroz Medical is Medicare-approved and handles the entire process from intake to delivery on your behalf. Patient responsibility is typically the 20% Part B coinsurance after the deductible — secondary insurance often covers that.
Q2
How long does the approval process take?
A typical custom power wheelchair case runs anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks from referral to delivery — covering insurance verification, clinical evaluation, authorization, and fitting. Timelines can vary depending on the complexity of the case, clinical scheduling, and manufacturer lead times. What we promise is that we move every case as efficiently as the documentation allows, and we keep you informed every step of the way.
Q3
What is Medical Necessity?
Medical necessity means that a licensed physician has determined the requested equipment is clinically required to treat your condition, not just for comfort or convenience. Insurance providers, including Medicare, use medical necessity as the primary basis for approving or denying DME coverage. To establish medical necessity, your physician must document your diagnosis, functional limitations, and why the requested equipment is the most appropriate solution. For complex rehab equipment, this typically includes a face-to-face evaluation, clinical notes, and a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). We work closely with referring physicians to ensure that all documentation accurately supports your case before anything is submitted.
